pine needles
i wrote a little thing about my ocs. i wanna get better at writing so i hope you guys like it.
Juliana doesn’t mind anymore it when Lupe sits on her lap. It’s become very normal to feel that weight on top of her and to have Lupe’s arms wrapped around her neck. She wonders how many times it had to happen before she finally got used to it.
This kind of thing is too new. But it’s nice, though.
“You smell different,” says Lupe from the crook of Juliana’s neck.
“A-ah…!” Juliana jumps and Lupe giggles softly. She lifts her head and looks at Juliana.
“Did that tickle? I’m sorry!”
“It’s fine,” mumbles Juliana, her face slightly flushed. “It’s whatever.”
Lupe grins. “So cute. You’re so cute.” She grabs Juliana’s pigtails and fluffs them, bringing them up to her nose and inhaling.
“Smells nice…”
“It’s pine needles,” Juliana says, putting her arms around Lupe’s waist. “Kerry bought a new shampoo and I tried it out.”
“I like it,” says Lupe. “You should keep using it.”
Juliana smiles and leans back, bringing Lupe down with her. They land with a soft thud on Juliana’s bed.
“No estés lejos de mí un sólo día, porque cómo, porque, no sé decírtelo…” says Lupe, dramatically.
“Huh?”
“...es largo el día, y te estaré esperando como en las estaciones cuando en alguna parte se durmieron los trenes,” finishes Lupe, with a calm expression on her face. “Sonnet 45, Neruda. There’s more to it but I don’t remember the rest.”
“Where’d you hear about it?” asks Juliana, staring at a spot of mold on the ceiling. How long has that been there?
“In English! We have English together, dummy. We went over the English translation.” Lupe sits up and hovers over Juliana, staring her down.
“I think I might’ve skipped class that day because I don’t remember,” says Juliana. She reaches up and holds Lupe’s face in her hands.
“Basically, don’t leave me! That’s…what I’m tryin’ to say,” Lupe mumbles, blushing furiously and avoiding Juliana’s gaze.
Juliana’s heart skips a beat and she smiles.
“Of course not, dummy.”
